Choosing an HRMS for 1,000+ Employees in India
Published: 24 Sept 2026 · Updated: 24 Sep 2026 · Author: NeevHR team
At 1,000 employees and above, an HRMS decision involves the CHRO, CFO and CIO together. The questions shift from features to governance: entities, controls, audit, integrations and how the rollout will be de-risked.
Governance and structure
- Multiple legal entities with their own statutory registrations, in one system
- Transfers between entities and locations as dated events
- Bulk actions for transfers, manager changes and separations
- Separation of duties in payroll (the person who computes cannot approve)
- Audit log of administrative, payroll and permission changes
Security review questions
- How is our data isolated from other customers?
- Which fields are encrypted, and how are keys managed?
- Can MFA be enforced for all users? Is single sign-on available?
- Where is data hosted, and what are the backup and recovery arrangements?
- Which certifications are held today?
Integrations
Expect to connect biometric devices across sites, bank payment files, an accounting system, and possibly your own data platform through an API or webhooks. Ask for a list of integrations that are live today.
De-risking the rollout
- 1
Pilot an entity
Go live with one entity or location first.
- 2
Parallel payroll
Reconcile at least one full cycle before switching over.
- 3
Phase the talent modules
Introduce performance and recruitment at cycle boundaries.
Where NeevHR fits
NeevHR is an India-first HRMS and payroll software platform for growing and mid-market businesses. It supports multiple entities, bulk actions, separation of duties, an audit log, Postgres row-level tenant isolation, field-level encryption of sensitive identifiers and enforceable MFA. Worth knowing: single sign-on is not available today, and NeevHR does not currently hold SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification.
